“Giving back to those less fortunate is part of being a professional and our dentists surpass any other community I know of. I am very proud to be a dentist in Northern Nevada.” ~Dr. Gregory J. Pisani
President of and Volunteer Dental Provider for Northern Nevada Dental Health Programs (NNDHP), the non-profit arm of the Northern Nevada Dental Society, Dr. Gregory J. Pisani, has been serving the Reno-Sparks community for over 25 years.
During his 16 years as President and 20+ years as a Board Member of NNDHP, Dr. Pisani has given back to and helped improve the oral health and lives of numerous at-risk children and veterans through NNDHP’s Healthy Smile Healthy Child and Adopt a Vet Dental programs.
Dr. Pisani has had the privilege of watching NNDHP evolve from a small group of concerned doctors to the largest organization in Nevada providing dental care to uninsured, at-risk children and low-income veterans who don’t qualify for care at the VA Dental Clinic. He’s now one of over 200 volunteer dentists taking part in these community programs that have donated over $6 million in services to those in need.
“I feel very lucky to be part of the Northern Nevada Dental Society and Northern Nevada Dental Health Programs,” said Dr. Pisani. “Our members are very aware of the needs of our community. These dedicated dentists have been helping NNDHP since its inception. They are selfless and never say no to a project when asked.”
Today, Dr. Pisani continues to play an active role in the world of dentistry and beyond. He is a Fellow in the American College of Dentists, a member of the Northern Nevada Dental Society, the Nevada Dental Association, the Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners and the American Dental Association, and has been recognized by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentists. He has served as president of Northern Nevada Dental Health Programs since 2002 and is a past trustee for the Ronald McDonald House charity. In April of next year, Dr. Pisani will be honored with the prestigious Mario Gildone Lifetime Achievement Award, which he was selected to receive by his colleagues.
A Reno native, Dr. Pisani graduated from Proctor R. Hug High School and the University of Nevada-Reno, and went on to attend the highly acclaimed University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. While earning the title of Doctor of Dental Surgery, he was selected to become a member of the OKU and TKO Honor Societies for his hard work and achievements.
Dr. Pisani has been married to his wife Gennel since 1977. They have two adult daughters, Lindsey and Ashley. An outdoorsman, when he’s not working at his practice or volunteering his time, Dr. Pisani can be found golfing, hunting, fishing, hiking or exploring. His family vacations usually involve water and a beach.
