Healthy Smile Healthy Child Welcomes New Dental Hygienist Alicia Herz
- On February 20, 2020
Our Healthy Smile Healthy Child (HSHC) program is excited to announce the addition of Dental Hygienist Alicia Herz. Herz is an integral part of the HSHC Dental Team bringing dental services directly to at-risk children attending Washoe County schools through the HSHC Sealant Program, as well as to other children in need throughout northern Nevada at a variety of outreach events.
Herz says any chance to help the community as a whole and serve others (in, and out, of dentistry) proves to be a guiding force for her.
“Knowledge is power,” said Herz. “It’s up to us to provide impactful oral health education and care to students and families within our community.”
With eight years of dental hygiene experience, Herz is a proud graduate of The Truckee Meadows Community College Dental Hygiene Program. She has worked in private practice, where she gained valuable and diverse experience treating patients, the majority of her career. However, the opportunity to work in public health has always been an interest of hers, so the transition to working with the non-profit HSHC was a perfect fit.
“I feel very grateful to be a part of this special opportunity to bring awareness and education to at-risk children in northern Nevada who are in need of dental help,” said Herz.
Built with strong roots, Herz is a third generation Nevadan who experienced a wonderful childhood growing up in the Carson Valley surrounded by her siblings and close friends. She has three beautiful daughters who keep her very busy. In her spare time, she enjoys watching her girls ski and play other sports throughout the year. Herz is passionate about expanding youth involvement in sports through non-profits, photography, hiking and wellness in general.
Northern Nevada Dental Health Programs and Healthy Smile Healthy Child could not be more excited about the experience and heartfelt enthusiasm Herz brings to the team and looks forward to the positive impact she will help make on the oral and overall health of children in our community.
