Dental Assistant, Shavanne Lambert, Joins Healthy Smile Healthy Child Team
- On October 29, 2019
Healthy Smile Healthy Child Dental Assistant, Shavanne Lambert, has been sharing her skills with communities in need since 2010. While she originally earned a degree in Marketing from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2006, an interest in the fields of health and wellness led her to change her career path and in 2008 she enrolled in the Dental Assisting Program at Truckee Meadows Community College.
In 2009, Lambert completed a Certificate of Achievement in Dental Assisting and in 2010, she joined Saint Mary’s Mission Outreach Dental Programs where she worked as a dental assistant with the Hospital Dentistry and Mobile Dental Programs. When Saint Mary’s merged with HAWC, Lambert continued to work with the Outreach Dental Programs at Community Health Alliance. It was here that she first encountered the Healthy Smile Healthy Child (HSHC) program and worked together with the HSHC team to help at-risk children receive much needed, no-cost to low-cost, dental care.
“My favorite thing about being a dental assistant is helping children learn about oral health and hygiene,” said Lambert. “I enjoy working in the public health field and am looking forward to working with the Healthy Smile Healthy Child Sealant Program and educating children about their dental health.”
A fun fact about Lambert is that her interest in health and wellness expands beyond dentistry. In addition to being a dental assistant, she is also a certified group exercise instructor and personal trainer. When she’s not working on improving the oral health of kids, you can find Lambert teaching fitness classes four days a week, where she is passionate about helping class participants and clients find success in achieving their fitness goals.
