AAVD Hires New Program Assistant – Meet Dolores Cox

Dolores M. Ward Cox is the Program Assistant at the Adopt a Vet Dental Program (AAVD). In this role, Dolores assists the Director of AAVD with monitoring, developing and tracking grant and state reporting, prepares quarterly reports for board meetings and assists the staff with day to day functions, among many other things, all of which is helping greatly to streamline AAVD and make it possible to help even more veterans in our community!
With a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Human Development and Family Studies (with an emphasis in Aging) from the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), Dolores is also a certified Gerontologist and taught courses for the Gerontology Program at UNR for three years.
She is the Education Coordinator at the Nevada Geriatric Education Center (NGEC), Sanford Center for Aging at UNR’s School of Medicine and the Master Trainer in Northern Nevada for the REST (Respite Education and Support Tools) program and has provided numerous trainings to caregivers and professionals on topics related to aging.
Previously, Dolores was the Program Director for the Alzheimer’s Association. She enjoys learning and educating herself on the needs of seniors and veterans in the community at large.
Dolores’ noteworthy experience, expertise, dedication, smiling face and kind personality bring a welcome addition to the AAVD team and the Northern Nevada Dental Health Programs family!
