Q&A with Dr. Jaques
What made you decide to become a Volunteer Dental Provider for the Adopt a Vet Dental Program?
My family has been abundantly blessed in many aspects of life, including the assurance of living in a free county. I’m sure I can’t truly comprehend the sacrifice of so many that makes that possible, but I do know that freedom is not free. These amazing men and women have given much for their country. I’m glad to give back in a small way.
Is there anything in particular that stood out to you during your experience as a Volunteer Dental Provider for the Adopt a Vet Dental Program?
I have been so impressed with the gentleman I’ve been able to treat via the AAVD. Each has been so appreciative and continually express it at each visit. I don’t sense any feeling of entitlement – like they deserve free treatment – although I think they do deserve it.
What does it mean to you to be part of the Adopt a Vet Dental Program?
My grandfather was an Air Force veteran, so for me, serving these great individuals, is a tribute to him.
