CARSON CITY, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) — A Reno man who served in the U.S. Marine Corps and has helped raise funds for several military services is set to be Nevada’s “Veteran of the Month” for August.
Gov. Brian Sandoval will present the award to James Snyder on August 27 at 9:30 a.m. at the governor’s mansion, according to the Nevada Department of Veterans Services.
In addition to his military service, Snyder has established a fundraiser for the Nevada Honor Flight, which arranges trips for World War II veterans to Washington, D.C., at no cost to them. He reportedly worked with the Marine Corps League, Walmart and a local radio station to raise $2,400 in five hours for the cause.
He also took part in an effort that sent 11,000 socks to a Marine battalion in Afghanistan, and he helps raise money for the Northern Nevada Dental Health Program/Joel F. Glover Charity Golf Tournament.
