“I enjoy being part of the Adopt a Vet Dental Program to provide the opportunity to our veterans to get the smile they deserve…” ~ Dr. Tony Mattioli
Dr. Tony Mattioli was one of the early adopters of volunteering for our Adopt a Vet Dental Program (AAVD) and has treated numerous veterans throughout his time in practice. In addition to being a Volunteer Dental Provider for Northern Nevada Dental Health Programs’ (NNDHP’s) Adopt a Vet Dental Program (AAVD), Dr. Mattioli’s involvement in the American Dental Association, Sierra Society for Dental Excellence, Nevada Dental Association, and Northern Nevada Dental Society, where he frequently participates in continuing education to keep current with evolving techniques and material to provide quality treatment, makes him a wonderful asset for caring for our local low-income veterans in need of dental treatment.
“Each and every one of them has been an honor to work with and it is very satisfying to see the end results,” said Dr. Tony Mattioli. “I enjoy being part of the AAVD program to provide the opportunity to our veterans to get the smile they deserve as more often than not it can be a challenge for them to receive treatment. In working with AAVD, everyone comes out a winner and I look forward to continue building new relationships.”
Dr. Mattioli is pictured above with one of the first veterans he treated as a volunteer dental provider for NNDHP, Damon Petro, from the Desert Storm era.
“One look at my teeth, and people wouldn’t hire me,” said Petro. “I was embarrassed and felt so hopeless and depressed. But Dr. Mattioli and Adopt a Vet changed my life. My health is better, I can laugh again, and I’m actively looking for an accounting job.”
Dr. Tony Mattioli began practicing in 1999. He attended the University of Nevada Reno for his undergraduate and received his dental degree from University of the Pacific, School of Dentistry in San Francisco, CA. Born and raised in Reno, Dr. Mattioli is fortunate to make his home in the beautiful Sierras with his wife, two kids, and four-legged friends, where he enjoys skiing, bicycling, soccer, and travel. He enjoys getting to know his community, one patient at a time. He loves this place, the people, and his profession.
